DANIEL HOLMES

American tenor Daniel Holmes has been enthusiastically praised for "his smooth controlled voice and unpretentious confidence." Opera roles include Pinkerton, Rodolfo, Hoffmann, Roméo, Sam in Susannah, Don José and Alfredo. He has appeared with many presenters including Washington National Opera, Baltimore Opera, Annapolis Opera, Opera Vivente, Washington Summer Opera, Lake George Opera, The Virginia Consort, Glens Falls Symphony, Peabody Opera Theatre, Maryland Opera Society and Opera Theatre of Northern Virginia. He sang the role of Rodolpho in Opera on the James spring 2008 production of La Boheme. Mr. Holmes earned his Bachelor of Music degree in voice performance at the Peabody Conservatory and an artist diploma from Catholic University. His numerous awards and honors include Sarasota Opera’s Kern Career Grant, first prize in Baltimore Music Club Competition, the Rosa Ponselle Foundation, the Marie Crump Vocal Competition of the Maryland Opera Society, and the Heinz Rehfuss Competition of the Orlando Opera in Florida. He is also the recent recipient of the prestigious Arleen Auger Memorial Fund's Career Development Prize. Opera on the James welcomes Mr. Holmes back to perform in Don Giovanni.
