ALLISON POHL

Soprano Allison Pohl made her professional debut as Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro under the baton of Maestro Stephen Lord at Boston Lyric Opera. In the 2010 season, she performed her first Adele in Die Fledermaus with One World Symphony in New York City. She also with Opera Saratoga as Frasquita in Carmen, in a featured soloist in Viva la Mamma, and as Mr. Swine/Little Red Riding Hood in the premiere workshop of Curt Tucker's opera The Trial of B.B. Wolf. Upcoming this year, Allison returns to Big Apple Baroque in Purcell's The Fairy Queen after appearing as the soprano soloist in Bach's Cantata No. 41 and as Mary Magdalene in Handel's La Resurrezione. She also returns to One World Symphony to perform Sibelius's "Norden" and the New York City premiere of Saariaho's "Parfum de l'instant."

Originally from Long Island, Allison has appeared with many other opera companies including Virginia Opera, Opera New Jersey, Opera Coeur d'Alene, and Opera Meraviglia. Favorite roles performed include Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Giannetta in L'elisir d'amore, Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, Lucy in Menotti's The Telephone, and Vera in Hoiby's A Month in the Country. She has also covered the roles of Adina in L'elisir d'amore, Musetta in La Bohème, Valencienne in The Merry Widow, The Four Heroines in Les Contes d'Hoffmann, and Tatiana in Eugene Onegin. In 2007 Allison was selected by Simon Estes to perform the title role in Pergolesi's La Conversione di Guglielmo with Orchestra Gemigniani in Tuscany, Italy. Allison is a 2011 Liederkranz Opera Competition finalist and a 2006 Lotte Lenya Competition for Singers finalist. She received her Master of Music degree from Boston University in 2007 and her Bachelor of Music degree from SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music in 2005.
